Helium Gas Canister, Cardboard Tube, Light Bulb, Helium Balloons.
Here I was trying to emphasise the modest potential trapped inside an ordinary gas filled light bulb and the energy exerted to generate that light.
The piece represents a static chain of events that is both theatrical and insightful in its attempt to get closer to the physics involved in light generation.
The empty Helium canister is a mediatory, acting as both the anchor for the light and the source of lift in the same instant.
Graphically the piece emphasises an explosion of energy radiating out from the bulb as a series of strung balloons, reminiscent of a smoke cloud.
